History of Armenia 28: The Story of Jack Kevorkian
Added 2023-09-13 05:13:35 +0000 UTC*CONTENT WARNING: This episode speaks, at length, about suicide*
Jack Kevorkian is known in popular media as "Dr. Death" The man that championed euthanasia in the United States with the state trying desperately to find a reason to throw him in prison. However, there is much more to it than that.
Dr, Kevorkian was a deeply unwell man who cared little for medical ethics or his patients and cared more about his cause then the people he was sworn to help.

2024-03-04 19:06:24 +0000 UTCThe Armenians in WW2 episode was great. However, after listening to Ep 4 of the main pod I was surprised that you have not done an episode on the Armenian Legion given your family connection. While it is an uncomfortable topic I think it is important to contextualize its existence. Honestly an entire episode on Ost battalions would be cool.

2023-09-15 21:55:46 +0000 UTCNot expecting another anime connection here of all places but the Avatar the last airbender soundtrack uses a Duduk with electronic effects on it a few times. I second Armenian instruments.

2023-09-14 02:19:50 +0000 UTCTwo things: the Armenian museum in Boston had an exhibit on his paintings. He made really shitty paintings it turns out. Second, you should reach out to the museum, they have a whole bunch of things and are always happy to talk. Maybe Armenian instruments as an idea.

2023-09-13 18:44:59 +0000 UTCMy dad went to the University of Michigan for medical school in the late ‘80s and has said multiple times to find a Dr Kevorkian type doc should he get “like that” (ie. coma, Alzheimer’s, terminal illness, etc)

2023-09-13 10:54:47 +0000 UTCDefinitely a figure from the late '90s: I always think of the episode of That's My Bush! Where he euthanized the cat when I think of him. Interesting episode of the pod.

2023-09-13 10:47:12 +0000 UTCKevork generally means "Farmer" in Western Armenian. His name ends in -ian, meaning he is western armenian (former ottoman empire) while names that end in -yan are eastern armenian (modern day Republic of Armenia)

2023-09-13 08:32:49 +0000 UTCI remember reading about Kevorkian i Swedish newspapers when I was younger. Safe to say he's world famous. Also, what does his name mean?
