Xenoblade 3 is amazing.
It's also real freaking difficult on hard difficulty.
The games was released on Friday. I already have 30 hours in it. Someone send help.
Research for our next video has begun. I'll be talking about the film "High Risk" directed by Wong Jing and starring Jet Li. It was basically a hit piece made to diss Jackie Chan, after Jackie and Wong Jing collaborated on City Hunter, which Jackie thought was the worst film he had ever done. The film, as far as I know, is the source of the rumor that Jackie had secretly used doubles in some of his famous stunts.
I've been reading a lot of tabloids and, honestly, I'm starting to lose my mind. Hong Kong tabloids are notorious, so much so, I can't even mention some of the contents they published without risking demonetization on YouTube. No, it's way worse than what you are thinking, unless you already knew the incident.
Anyway, the video is scheduled for August 8th. But it'll probably be slightly later than that. In the past few months, I've been swarmed by work. I want to take more time to perfect each video starting this fall. So our upload schedule will be less concrete than before. Then again it has never been that concrete to begin with.
So... I watched Sonic 2, on my way back from vacation on a plane.
It was... actually really good! It's definitely not for me. The tone and pace are all geared towards kids. But it did try its best to appeal to adults, too, with some pretty clever jokes here and there. I can see how it'd be loved by a lot of kids, and be fondly remembered in the future. It's honestly a lot of fun, with a few small cringe moments.
There's a lot of love about the movie, so much so I don't even think I can fit everything in this post. The best part that worth mentioning is Knuckle. He's both a badass and a dumbass, a funny combination. The best way I can explained is imagine T-800, played by Arnold. He is intimidating but also unintentionally funny with everything he does. Idris Elba puts in 120% for this character. He's clearly having loads of fun in the recording booth, and the man can be amazingly funny.
The most surprising part for me, however, is the jokes. They are actually very funny and clever, better than the first film! You can see the writes' talent shines through. One of the writer is John Whittington, which wrote the excellent Lego Batman, and the jokes in that movie are also excellent. So you can expect some quality stuff.
So here is a sample of the good stuff:
In one scene, Sonic and Tails were challenged to a duel in a Russian tavern. This muscle bound Russian dude walks up and stripes, revealing a tattoo of himself posing in the exact same way he is posing.

How's that for a visual joke.
Even better, he starts dancing. It's a dance duel.

Here is another amazing shot of a bride walking away from an exploding golf card while chucking down a bottle of wine. I'm not even going to explain this one. This movie is a fever dream of wildness, and it goes to places.
So, yeah. Sonic 2 is a good time, even better than the first one. It's rare to see a video game based movie doing well, let alone doing it twice. And of course of all characters, it'd be Sonic, the one IP where everything is doing well except the game...
And to think this series was almost a disaster.
Anyway, that's the update for this week! If you haven't, our bonus video on Tron Legacy is out, so take a look if you are interested. I'll see you next week for a new update!
