[Weekly Update] More 2025 Movies I look Forward to

Before we star, I have a request. I'm currently writing a script and need some inspirations. I'm looking for films and shows that features riddles, puzzles, or deductions. Things like classic Sherlock Holmes, or perhaps movies about escape rooms. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

CHANNEL UPDATE

Next video:
I've finished the first draft on our next video, which will be about Shanghai Joe. For the first time, I'm considering expanding the script rather than shortening it light I usually do, incorporating more in-depth discussions for longer videos. As is, the video contains brief discussions on Cinecittà and Italian cinema, and its tie to Hollywood during the 50s.

My question for you:
Originally, the script contains only the relevant information. Anything that isn't 100% relevant to the film Shanghai Joe is gloss over. For example, I only mention Mussolini because he inaugurated the Cinecittà, but does not talk about what the studio does during the Fascist Era.
My question for you, then, is which approach do you prefer? Would you want me to include a broader scope of informations, or do you prefer the video to stay concise and sharp?

Bonus video:
I've started writing the next bonus video. It'll be about my thoughts on past Superman actors. Expect me to gush about Christopher Reeve.

For iOS users:
This is the final remainder to anyone who uses the iOS Patreon apps. If you are supporting your creators through the Patreon app, Apple is applying an additional fee to your pledges. By pledging through Patreon's website, you can avoid this fee. This also apply to other services like Spotify, I believe.

MEDIA TALK:

Last time we talked about a whole bunch of upcoming movies that caught my attention, for one reason or another. But we are not done with the list yet, so let's wrap it up this week.

Freakier Friday
I know opening the list with this movie doesn't bring in much excitement. But as one of the only people on this Earth who actually enjoyed the Mean Girls remake, this sequel makes me cautiously optimistic. If anything, it's just nice to see Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis on screen together again. Will I see it in theaters? Probably not. But I will keep an eye out for it on streaming.

Avatar: Fire and Ash
People makes fun of the Avatar series for the uninspired plot, but like... that's just most blockbusters these days. At least Avatar has actually masterful filmmaking to support the plot. Yeah sure, the CGI action and visual will never be as engaging as the real deal, but if there is one VFX animated epic, I'm glad this is the one. James Cameron didn't create a miracle with Avatar, but he sure did the best he can.

Wake Up Dead Man
It's a Knives Out sequel. At this point I guess it's the Benoit Blanc Trilogy.
In an age of CGI filled explosive blockbusters, movies like this that are dialogue and style driven, all while remaining mainstream and entertaining, are a rare treat. It is one of the last instances of a film series driven by an auteur director and actors with star powers. As a cinephile, this is one film I have to support.

Frankenstein
If there's one director who should be directing a Frankenstein film, it would be Tim Burton. But if there are two directors, the second seat would go to Guillermo del Toro.
I don't think I need to explain why the combo of del Toro and Frankenstein is so exciting. But if you don't get it, then I think I shouldn't say anymore, and let you experience the film when it come out with a fresh pair of eyes.

The Thursday Murder Club
There's just something about watching old people solve crime that's really fascinating, man.
Thanks to the relative success of Poirot movies and Knives Out series, The Thursday Muder Club is another star studded whodunnit. And as a fan of detective films, this is right up my alley. Pierce Brosnan solving crime? Sign me up!

And that's the entire list of American films I'm looking for in 2025. Are there other movies that catches your attention? Let me know in the comments.

Our next video should go live sometime next week. Before that, I'll see you in our next update!
