Making waves
Added 2021-01-15 10:47:04 +0000 UTCThis was an older sketch that I was commissioned to color! Crowley & Aziraphale make it at the beach to the amusement of some curious fishies. I loved painting this, and was thinking of Hale'iwa Beach, one of my very favorites, where the sea turtles like to hang out. I rarely do any sort of background, but I had fun with this one!

She said before their halau starts training for a competition, like Merrie Monarch, they start with a ritual: they get up at dawn, go to the ocean, strip naked and get in the water. They can't come out until they can leave their grief, anxiety and anger in the ocean. Leave it to the waves, and come out clearheaded with no distractions. I always thought that was so beautiful, and if anything could take your troubles, it would have to be the ocean!

2021-01-19 19:42:06 +0000 UTCThis is gorgeous!! I miss the ocean myself. It’s the only place I feel genuinely relaxed. There’s something about a huge body of water to make me realize that my problems are smaller than I think and ultimately everything will be OK. This is LOVELY!!! So sweet and tender! Of course then I remember my “adventures” with water and can’t help but be glad these guys don’t have to worry about friction and other earthy body stuff!!
