Shelter

My dear friend Shannon suggested I draw Crawly sheltering Aziraphale under his wing while he sleeps, and it was a such a sweet idea I couldn't resist. This is my first watercolor for the monthly traditional drawing! I'll pick one Lucky Cat out of a hat (tomorrow -- it's still Tuesday as I write this) and mail it to them.

I cut together a little process video of the ink & paint and put it on my Instagram if anyone might like to see it! I used a Micron pen and Winsor & Newton watercolors (recommended to me by Martina Huni, my very favorite watercolor artist). I'm still getting the hang of paint, but I'm having fun!

Yes! I kept looking at this comment while I was away from the house and couldn't remember the paper name, but now I can check -- it's a Strathmore cold press watercolor pad! It's been really nice so far. I also tape down my edges to keep it from wrinkling as much as possible.

This is so lovely and peaceful. I wonder if you wouldn't mind sharing what sort of paper you use or have used? I have had such bad luck with watercolor papers every time I've tried!
