I started working on this over a year ago -- I had reluctantly agreed to do this as a commission, and the person had asked for a traditional piece. I fully penciled and inked this twice, each time through a full on tantrum, tears and all, and each time I hated the result so much I swore to take my brush pens into the driveway and obliterate them with a mallet. At last I just admitted that I shouldn't have agreed to take on a thing I wasn't comfortable with. I don't think I could fully paint this even now, with a lot more practice.
But I still like the thing so much, I've always wanted to finish it, so I am. Lines are done, and it'll be either be a spring or summer scene. I invoke the holy name of Bill Watterson to help me with this background. 🙏
How many times, I wonder, has Crowley allowed himself to be "vanquished"? Just to keep the scales in balance, I'm sure.
