Upcoming Feature Preview

For a long time, I've wanted to add a new type of weapon to the game. Recently, a new animator joined the team, and has begun working on the animations that I would need in order to implement the weapon. Here's a preview of how the animation is turning out!

As you can tell from the animation above, it would be a strangulation weapon.

There are various types of objects that can be used to suffocate someone; wrapping a garotte around someone's throat, covering their head with a plastic bag...heck, even something like a stethoscope or jump rope could be used a strangulation device if you wrap it around someone's throat.

Actually, since this type of weapon doesn't leave behind any evidence - no blood stains - it has the potential to be a supremely overpowered weapon...hence the decision to make the killing animation 10 seconds long. Yes, you'll be able to kill without leaving evidence...but only at the cost of being vulnerable for 10 full seconds, which makes it the most risky and "costly" weapon in the game.

"But, YandereDev! You can already kill people without leaving behind evidence by getting a stealth kill with a blunt weapon!"

Yeah, I know, and I kinda regret that. It's too imbalanced and overpowered. I might change my mind about it in the future...

Idea: All short stabbing weapons can only be used once, then they break. Blunt and long weapons cannot be concealed without a weapon bag, but also, cannot break. I feel like this would be balance.

I feel like all weapons need some type of benefit to use them, if they all leave blood on the ground, on your clothing, and on the weapon then no one will use any type of weapon except the knife-type weapon. Maybe baseball bat-type weapons don't leave blood on the ground, katana-type weapons don't leave blood on your clothing, and dumbell-type weapons don't leave blood on the weapon. I'm not sure if being able to conceal knife-type weapons is enough incentive to use that type of weapon but it is a benefit.

WOOOOAAAAAAH!!! This animation is soooo goooood!!! I really like how it's turning out!! I can't wait to hear what the voice acting will be like for this animation. I'm glad there are still people who join this project. Especially if they are animators. I LOVE ANIMATIONS!!

If we think of using a blunt weapon in a realistic way, the stealth kill from the back cracks the neck and is an accurate portrayal. However, if you hit from the front, there may be some blood. My proposal would be leave no blood for a stealth attack, and leave a very small blood pool as a front attack, as a full blood pool would probably be too much. It’s both realistic and I think makes it a bit more balanced.

I actually had an idea of this once of a mechanic like this. It will cause no blood, and a sneaky why to kill. But it will drain your sanity fast. And a longer animation of how low your sanity is. To make up for and to be balanced

It seems like the problem is less with blunt objects and more with how stealth kills work. I think they would be better with having a fail condition. But I get it you just want to encourage for weapons from being used I would recommend making killing with a blunt object be more time consuming much like with strangling with a cord. I agree in the latest dev update you said the weapon bag trivialises things. I would agree that would help but for it not to be so easily accessible. Overall I think what you end up doing should make logical sense or make sense in the narrative.
