RPPR Illustrated: Cointract Island - Ad Zombies and Accelerators

The Ad Zombie

A strange chimera, even by the standards of Cointract Island, the ad zombie is a mobile vending machine and billboard. While it resembles a large slug or snail, the ad zombie contains DNA from a large number of creatures. Its ‘brain’ is spread between the organic and inorganic. It has a dense nerve cluster linked to a CPU. Even the ad zombie’s designers cannot truly measure how intelligent it is or how fast it can learn. 

The Ad Zombie is designed to accept commands wirelessly and even act semi-autonomously. It can navigate crowded urban environments, operate doors, elevators, and analyze data to make decisions. For example, an ad zombie is capable of looking at foot traffic patterns and determine which area is best set up. It is motivated to sell products in its vending machine component. Don’t worry, it knows how to restock itself once it sells out its inventory. 

The Ad Zombie is strong enough to right itself if it falls over and can operate with minimal rest and nutrients. It does need electricity to power its cybernetic components, but it knows how to recharge itself by plugging or using available batteries. It can even regenerate injuries or lost limbs. 

Reports of aberrant behavior or developing ‘free will’ are grossly exaggerated. It definitely does not hunger for raw meat.

Accelerators 

A tech startup called Modular Synergy has recently gone offline. They had recently purchased a one-of-a-kind chimera, known only as Booster. The employees began 3d printing masks with fractal patterns and referred to themselves as Accelerators. 

Rumors that Accelerators began recruiting (some would say kidnapping) new employees by feeding them a strange fungus are unsubstantiated. It can be confirmed that the main office has been decorated with new fractal artwork. Doors and windows have been boarded up. The idea that the Booster chimera grows a new type of hallucinogenic fungus is absurd or that the fungus mutates humans with repeated exposure.
