Behind the scenes updates! – end of August 2022

Here are *some* of the new and double-checked updates we’ve made in the past few weeks.

NEW TO BARNIVORE!

Monte Xanic Wine ‘s (Mexico) winemaker wrote a whole article about their vegan processes.

Shmidt Spirits (USA) was pretty sure were are vegan-friendly but even went so far to contact their enzyme supplier to find out about the enzyme and yeast packages they use… turns out they are vegan-friendly too!

Origin Wines (South Africa) is all vegan-friendly!

Iron Plow Winery (USA) is all vegan-friendly!

Fitzhugh Brewing (USA) is all-vegan friendly except for 2 that contain honey.

COMPANIES SWITCHING TO VEGAN-PROCESSES!

Patritti & Co Ltd  (Australia) has switched over a few years ago and is now vegan-friendly!

DOUBLE CHECKS

A year ago Pilot Brewery (Scotland) announced that they stopped using lactose entirely, and even have a (non) milk stout! It’s been double checked and they are still vegan friendly!

This is actually the 5th check for Meiomi Wines(USA)… still not vegan-friendly… maybe they will get the hint soon.

Tyne Bank Brewery (England) had a sign up at that their cask-conditioned Silver Dollar brew is vegan friendly!

Chateau-Coutet (France) was originally listed as vegan-friendly, and Barnivore contributor Natasha called them and they confirmed… then they went on a winery tour and the operator revealed they use eggs!

Flying Monkeys’ (Canada) beers are still mostly vegan friendly, unless lactose is marked on the bottle.

COMPANIES CONTACTING US!

Closet Brewing Project  (Scotland) reached out and let us know they are a “a fully vegan nanobrewery just opened in Edinburgh”

Antigal Wines(Argentina) contacted us as they are not only still vegan friendly… but CERTIFIED so.

Newy Distillery (Australia) has 47 kinds of vodka, 23 gins,7 liquers in a variety of flavours and colours… they are all vegan-friendly except for the pink shimmers.

Parsons North Brewing (USA) writes: We do not brew any beers with honey or lactose and we don’t use any yeast finings or filter our beers! This includes our root beer, which I cut honey from, in the final recipe, to accommodate vegans!”

Although 95% of our submissions come from the Barnivore Community… we look at our “failed search” log and have reached out to 45 non-listed companies in August.
