Friday Rambles 4/22/2022 - Big Plans Edition

It's the Saturday Friday Rambles for this, the 22nd of April, 2022.

- I'm getting pretty close to making up my mind about what the rest of the year is going to look like as far as my career goes. I have enough saved up that a break from my industry won't be catastrophic, and I'm planning on using the time to completely disconnect from work, recharge, do some traveling, rebuild my relationships, focus on personal projects, and develop skills for future work I actually care about. I'm aiming for early June to start on my little journey.

- If things go well, then who knows, maybe it'll be more than a break. But for now I'm not going to promise myself that, or burn myself out on art in pursuit of making it my new career or anything, (although a permanent career switch will remain a super stretch goal for this break in case everything falls into place magically). Anyway, before I start interviewing for jobs again probably early next year, I'm going to be way leveled up in skills I'm actually interested in, and I'll be making sure I actually believe in the companies I'm applying to and care about the work I'd be doing. The job market for my field is super hot, so I'm not too concerned about lack of opportunities or choice if/when the time comes. Which I know is not always a given, so I'm thankful there.

- I have so many ideas I want to mess around with and actually implement. It'll be nice to finally have the time and energy to actually work on these.

- I'll probably be also putting way more time into merch stuff, to subsidize my "break". But I feel bad about not having any content to make merch of lately, so I'm going to work on that first. When the time comes, I hope you all will be part of my "1000 True Fans" 😂 I've also applied to a bunch of Artist Alleys that are happening later this year, I hope I make it into at least one of them (which will be another life goal fulfilled lol). If I do, I'll really be prioritizing the merch creation 😂

- For this blog, in particular, the next few months to a year will probably be a nice lil chronicle what I'm working on and learning during my break, as well as what I'm thinking about as far as big career changes go. That or it'll be a big ol monument to man's folly. But either way it will certainly be way more active than it is now. I hope you stick around!
