Friday Rambles 9/2/2022

It's the first Friday of September, 2022! Two thirds of the way through 2022. Hope you all have accomplished two thirds of the goals you set for the year. haha.

This week I told my Twitter Super Followers to come to Patreon instead, and some of you actually did! Thank you and welcome, I really appreciate your support. The reason I did this is because Twitter's Super Follow feature is so half-baked and so incomplete that I don't know how it was even released in this state. You literally need the Twitter iOS app to be able to change settings for Super Follows, and I can't even change the description (on any platform) for my Super Follow link to tell people to not subscribe lol... not that I've had that many people to discourage...

I uploaded a wip in progress to my Patreon® Lens™. I hope to use this more often as I draw more often. As long as I don't forget, anyway. I wish Super Followers had Exclusive Fleets so I could at least post those.

This week I ran a bunch of errands. I fixed our toilet. It was constantly making noise and leaking or something. So I installed a flush valve and now it's completely silent and leak free. I'm very proud of this. I also got an oil change for my car. They found a bunch of other stuff that needed maintenance so that was a big ol chunk of change too. And it took all day so that was annoying.

No more plans for big trips this month, so I'll hopefully have a lot of time to draw and work on coding projects. I might as well try out all the stuff I wanted to try (maybe even some commissions) so I can get all that out of my system before I go back to the Real World. And yeah, I'm beginning to accept that art is going to remain a hobby/side gig (unless something really magical happens), because every time I try to think about how to monetize my art to make enough for rent and stuff it really kills my vibe, man.

Idk. Maybe I could add some kind of physical rewards thing to Patreon too. Like a monthly sticker club or monthly zine sort of thing. Whatever.

In any case my sabbatical has been very worth it so far. My brain is so much healthier from not thinking about and worrying about work all the time, going to meetings I hate, blah blah blah. My body has recovered from a bunch of weird issues that I'd been having (apparently due to stress), and I'm jogging a bunch, and spending a lot more time with my loved ones. Did a bunch of traveling, been making progress on my art goals, doing some coding on the side, it's been great. Of course my bank account is hemorrhaging all my savings, but whatever, once I'm working again my brain will be so nice and healthy that I'll kick ass and soon be in a better situation than I was when I left. Well that's the hope anyway.

Of course, no longer being in a workplace means I'm out of material for my Anime Dilbert comic series, but it's also forcing me to be more creative.

I played a lot of DJMAX and went through a bunch of the DLC songs I hadn't had a chance to play yet. I was very impressed with how they went all out for the crossover collab DLC with Muse Dash/NEXON/etc. So impressed that it inspired me to do a bunch of crossover pics with a bunch of anime titles that I have enjoyed over the years. If you saw my Patreon® Lens™ pic, that's the first of many to come :)

Anyway, thank you as always for your support!
