Friday Rambles 2022-11-04

It's the Friday Rambles, on time for once.

We're in the final stretch of 2022. I'm really not sure where the year went. I quit my job 5 months ago, but it doesn't feel like that. They say you get bored after a while after you stop working, but I haven't felt that at all. Then again, I guess I'm just doing a different kind of work now, you know, except without the stable income (or self loathing).

I've been working nonstop on Issue 3 of the Endless Monday Monthly this week. I'm getting into a nice groove, now that I've done it twice before already. I'm pretty proud of how it's coming out. Please look forward to it.

Here's an illustration that'll be in the zine. Super Secret Patreon Content!! Also it might not make much sense if you haven't read the previous issues, so please do that, if you haven't. If you want. I still think it looks cool regardless.

I've been really surprised by the interest in the zine, honestly. It's a lot of work but people have been pretty excited about it, enough to buy it each time (well it's only been twice, but still). I'm hoping I can keep gaining more readers and maybe eventually I can make an actual living off my own creations, which is like, what more could you even ask for? Of course, I'm also starting to gather materials to study for interviews again since I'm also realistic, but... we'll see how this next issue goes. I probably shouldn't get too hopeful but it's nice to have that dream.

It was a nice experiment and experience, but I'll also likely stop doing commissions soon, because they take too much time and creative energy that I'd rather spend on my own work, which I see as the only sustainable way I'd make an art career work that I don't hate. Because in the end if I'm going to do a job for money that's not fulfilling for me, I might as well make way more money for way less work at some dumb tech job.

Anyway, I'm going back to working on the issue, because I still have a couple more arts to finish, and I need to do that by tonight so I can print and fold and staple over the weekend. It's hard work but it's honestly been really fun for me, that it doesn't even really feel like work. blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Thanks for your support, as always! I'll be back after the Issue 3's released.
