Friday Rambles 12-23-2022 (and game wip)

It's Saturday, Christmas Eve! I'm only late by a day! 

It's only been like 4 days since the last Ramble, but I did get a lot of game dev work done. I've really hit a good stride. But it's definitely not going to be done by New Year's, but the New Year's part is less important in the story now. Lol. In fact, Tiger-chan isn't even the main focus of the story anymore, but rather a branch, so I'm renaming the game to something else.

Game making takes a long time! Even for no-budget simple games like these. And I keep learning new stuff as I go along, which makes me want to apply those learnings! I was hoping to just make something short and small, but I just can't bring myself to release something shitty and half-assed for my first ever game. I mean, first impressions, and all, you know? I already have a big audience and I feel like I have to maintain at least a certain standard so people don't immediately lose trust and write off my next projects.

That being said, The scope is still fairly small, and the game will be lucky to be more than an hour's worth of play time. But I want that hour to be entertaining and fun and extend the Endless Monday universe lore in a meaningful way.

I've really been obsessed with this project, and it's basically all I'm working on every day (minus family and friends time and exercising, etc) and basically all I'm thinking about. And yet, when I sleep my dreams are still all about my last job, ex-coworkers, ex-responsibilities. I think I'm subconsciously worrying about finding a new job and stuff. That's another reason I'm feeling so much pressure with this project, because it's (whether it's realistic or not) serving as my hope of continuing to do this if it does well enough. lol

Anyway...

I did some stuff for a secret santa event for a server I'm in, and of course, being the selfish and obsessed guy I am, I made the gift (fanart of an OC) in the game as a whole branch of the story. As for whether she can be in the actual release... I'll get permission for that first.

As you can see, this part of the story, uh, gets kind of weird, but I've never been one to shy away from weird situations.

I'll be busy the next few days with family stuff, so I might not be able to make a lot of progress on this project, but a break might be good for me anyway now that I don't have to rush for a New Year's release. Have a good holiday season!
