Oops. When the US and the rest of those in the area get together, they control 32% of the World's GDP, while China controls 15%. At the moment they are at a disadvantage and the stakes are high enough to act.

Let's have some fun: (1) Setup the entire area with more SOSUS sonar sensors, (2) drop a deep sea scientific habitat 201 miles off China and a couple of miles from "their " islands in the Spratlys, and (3) bring in oil and mineral exploration vessels to check the area out for monsters from the abyss. We could lease the habitats to the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc. Then we can put peaceful US Navy support and supply vessels all over the place servicing the habitats. Of course the carrier battle group(s) in the area are just on training exercises with our allies who value peace. A win win for all the peace valuing people of the world.
