Prompt: A tanker accident causes a toxic chemical spill, but the damage is minimized by a group of curious and hungry mermaids. While the people rejoice, the mermaids are left to suffer the fierce gassiness in their bloated bellies.

   The town was in an uproar as footage began to be passed around of the tanker truck that had fallen off the side of the road and into the bay. While no one was directly hurt, the lasting damage could be seen in the form of the toxic, green goo that seeped out of the vehicle. Dreading the worst, officials were forced to wait until the day after to do anything to clean up the mess. When that time came, everyone was surprised to see that the spill had bene completely cleaned up. Though there wasn’t an obvious answer as to what had happened to the waste, the people were more than happy to call it a miracle and celebrate their good fortune.

   Far beneath the waters, in a small alcove, rested a group of mermaids that were busy massaging their poor stomachs. Looking towards one another, they began to question whether it had been a good idea to take care of the problem by eating up the chemical spill themselves. Their leader was able to silence their fears with the reminder that they were supposed to be guardians, but that did little in the wake of the lingering side effects of their noxious feast.

   As the mermaids continued to rub their enormous, spherical bellies, they were reminded of the foul taste as bubbles rolled up their throats in the form of powerful belches. Any that attempted to clasp their mouths shut, were instead subjected to rumbling farts constantly releasing from their backends to send tremors through their scaley tails. Forced to endure the humiliation of gas leaking out both of her ends at once, the leader tapped her fingers against her bloated belly. For just a moment, she contemplated revealing themselves to the humans just so they could get some well-earned recognition.
