Chris sits down with Dr Peter Ackerman to talk about why nonviolent resistance may actually be more effective than violence when facing an authoritarian regime.

How Civil Resistance Can Take Down Authoritarian Regimes

I think that'd be pretty hard. The regime would need to acknowledge what it did to stop it and that could unstable the regime.

Hey Chris! Do you think it is possible for there to be freedom for Falun Gong practitioners in China without regime change?

How did Romania deal with it's own oppressive regimes in the past?

David Michael White

As someone who likes to dream of punching oppressive politicians into orbit, you've given me a lot to think about here. This is a view I've never really pondered: Violent insurrection always seemed as the must successful way, as it means you get things done in a matter of days or will at least surely make your point even if not... peaceful resistance may at most sway some powerful people to change their views, but they can easily say "let them protest and just ignore it" (best case scenario) or "get the army to shoot them" (worst case scenario) while also painting a target onto you and telling the regime you've been on the naughty list. It would be interesting to hear more about this man and his organizations beliefs which are intriguing.
