Patreon Progress Report (April 2021)
Added 2021-04-01 14:33:30 +0000 UTCIt's been six months since I first started this Patreon, so I'd thought it be a good time to take a look at how things have progressed in that time.
In general, the Patreon isn't as good as I had hoped, but has been doing much better than I ever believed it would. We're halfway towards the initial funding goal and this has been a good motivator to get me to write more frequently and regularly. I'm looking forward to watching how this Patreon will continue to grow. With that in mind, I'd like to take a moment to go over the tiers, alongside my thoughts on them and some changes I've made over the course of the past six months.
Cyclops Tier ($1)
In terms of the various polls open to this and the upper tiers, I've been making it a habit to allow more than one vote per poll to gauge interest in various subjects. Of particular note, I think I'm going to avoid doing polls focused on singular franchises due to how limiting it can be in terms of what people are interested in. In addition, there have been multiple cases of polls ending in a draw, forcing me to make the deciding vote. I typically make this choice based on variety, but I will say now that if it comes down between my own idea and a Patron's, the Patron's story will win out.
Visionary Tier ($3)
Up until now, every single story I've done has been locked off to this tier and above indefinitely. I want to change that to both allow people another way to read my stories, while still giving a long term benefit to my Patrons. As of right now, each story I post will be released publicly on my Patreon 24 hours after it is complete. In addition, I will be including PDFs for each story in a separate post available to this tier and above. As for the stories posted before this change, I'm going to make them all accessible, as well as the PDFs included with each. Think of it as a little bonus.
Enlightened Tier ($5)
Writing prompt requests from Patreon have been slow, but eventful. Only a few of the Patrons pledged to this tier have actually submitted prompts for me to write. While I appreciate my regulars, I'd love to hear some new ideas from new people. If you have a prompt you want to submit, don't be afraid to shoot me a message or comment on the current writing prompt request post.
Scholar Tier ($10)
This tier is the only one that's gone through price reduction due to a lack of interest. I have written one story based on a Patron's suggestion, but I'm hoping the lowered cost will entice people to pledge to this tier and submit their story ideas for future polls.
Beholder Tier ($25)
Only thing to note with this tier is that it's doing it job as intended. The few that have been generous to pledge, while temporary, have been wonderful and have proven that I can handle another commission popping up out of nowhere and seamlessly add it to my writing schedule.
I want to take this time to thank my Patrons for all of their support. While I still hope to reach my first funding goal by at least the one year anniversary, I'm just glad to see this Patreon be active and thriving. Here's to some great stories and even greater possibilities.
