Jimin with the blindfold dancing with Hobi!? Taehyung the vampire?! All of the boys looked so good and performed their hearts out. Truly a sight to see 😭

Definitely watch the 2014 one to see BTS eat block B up as rookies. It was embarrassing even though the crowd was hating on BTS. But RM even freestyles a diss to rapper in another group

2025-01-20 02:43:20 +0000 UTCWhen it comes to performances BTS are always the best! 🔥 BTS' first MAMA performance was in 2014 and actually was on the Red Carpet.. 😭 yes, they didn't let them perform on stage bc they didn't have the power of a big company. They performed Attack on Bangtan and Boy In Luv 💜 Luckily, they participated in the "competence" section between groups and that same day was the BTS vs Block B performance on stage that is ICONIC! Idk if you got to read the context of this moment in the Beyond the story book, but basically the members had a lot of things on their minds and a lot of pressure as a rookie group with few opportunities, especially Namjoon bc he got recently dissed as a rapper in a song by a popular idol rapper.

Not sure if it was MAMA or MMA that was the first one, —they won one at each— but this award season was the first time they won a daesang (grand prize). They were the first group not signed to one of the big 3 companies to do so and they were so shocked and so emotional accepting it. Still wearing these stage outfits.

I hope you watch it! A fun fact is that BTS has been always spoiling or connecting eras. With the MVs from the 'HYYH: Young forever' album you will notice that at the end they are making a phrase. It was for this song! oh and there is a theory thar connects with the Love Yourself era too but you are not there yet

Gahhhh. lol I know it's a lot but I hope you eventually watch some of their MMA (Melon Music Award) performances, too -- the 2018 MMA performance is my personal fave out of all their award show performances. I also have a soft spot for MMA 2020 since it not only made my jaw drop multiple times but it was the first new award show performance I saw as a baby Army.

2025-01-19 16:32:59 +0000 UTCSo Jimin and Hobi are both “main dancers” but only j-hope is the “dance leader.” It’s a little confusing but the dance leader role entails a lot of extra work monitoring and planning rehearsals and leading rehearsals so it’s a different thing than “main dancer.” :) also, I love JiHope duets. The 2017 MAMA (or is it Melon?) has a great one, too. More contemporary and so lovely! I hope we get more in the future!

JK dangling from the rafters with the creepy RM voiceover, our two main dancers showing off why they're the best in kpop (and Jimin in that blindfold MY GOD), taejin just WILDING out there, and wrapping it all up with the most hype of all hype songs. And all while looking like THAT. This performance has everything, it's perfect. Sheeesh, Wings era was nuts. They transformed so suddenly from that youthful schoolboy/lost boy aesthetic to decadent victorian gentlemen, all dripping in velvet brocade, crotch-grabbing, absinthe-drinking, choking each other and JK yanking Jimin by an invisible leash, and, and... it was just a crazy time.
