Art VS Reference #1

I've been slacking on doing these even if they're part of the member benefits... SORRY LOL But this is the first batch of them, and I aim to do them monthly.

I tried to find pictures with three different degrees of "how close is it to the reference" but idk if I succeeded LOL There's always some bit of contention or debate about it, which thankfully is shifting away from the "references=bad" narrative, but just remember that references are part of growth as an artist, and tbh why suffer trying to figure out the right angle for the nut asksdaj I like to think I add enough of "me" into my pics to make them different anyway, which I feel is more important, but maybe some ppl would disagree. I will say it definitely did help me with my anatomy by a ton, and some angles/positions I can now draw confidently without aid thanks to all the references I used to practice.

Anyway, hope this post is somewhat interesting and informative! If there's ever a pic you'd want to see a post like this for, feel free to suggest in the comments or in the discord #suggestion-box! I'll also appreciate feedback and suggestions on what you'd like to see in these, and questions are also fine too! Once I figure out how to do videos, I'll maybe uploading process videos too.

I feel like the people who shit on references did not go to art school

Aaaah this is really helpful!! People on the internet are so mean to others for using references in poses, so it's nice to see how useful they actually are!! I found this very interesting.

I went to a fancy schmanchy art school - ppl who shit on references need to go touch grass bc that's LITERALLY HOW YOU LEARN & HOW THEY TEACH US also, lol to anyone thinking that the reference could be anywhere near the same as your art - big energy difference in those two pieces
