David, i case you're checking this post regularly, same as above) » Oh, Patreon, usually I'd give you feedback: 1) I quit (just for now!) b/c Patreon. 2) I see the $5 strips, since it's still December. 3) Above, I see "News flash! If you become a patron to David M Willis, you’ll immediately …" – see the strips I see 🤔

The credit card processing fee that the creators originally had to eat. The one that supposedly inspired Patreon to start this whole kerfuffle in the first place.

What processing fee issue?

Amanda

Yay! I've not only reinstated my pledge, but I've increased it, to cover the processing fee issue (of which I was previously insensible). It's still miniscule, but I'm sure the pennies add up. (I'm also going to look and see who else might use some of my pennies)

I've reinstated my monthly $5 pledge as a result of Patreon's decision to reverse their awful decision. But we still know they want to make changes, and I'll be scrutinizing any changes to the payment scheme they make. In the meantime, I don't want to continue punishing creators for a decision they did not make or even agree to. Glad to renew my support, Mr. Willis.

Lord Malachite

Well... I can't change right back to the ten dollar pledge, or even five right now. But that's good, because y means getting back on that wagon shouldn't take as long

I'm glad they didn't just say fuck you and get on with it, and I like their apology. They owned it pretty well, unlike a good many public apologies I've seen/heard over the years.

It's nice to see that Patreon is able to listen to their users (creators and patrons), some organisations can be unreasonably stubborn when faced with this kind of backlash. I'm happy Patreon is not one of them ! I'll be reinstating the small donations I had cancelled tomorrow.

Also - damn, that's one quick recovery, Willis. You were down to 1853 patrons and $4870 (from $5008 when I started keeping track).

BBCC

Excellent! Now I definitely can afford to stay.

Man. Such a pointless PR fuck up

Is it true? That page isn't loading for me ... maybe they are swamped with people trying to see their answer!
