2017-12-29 16:29:32 +0000 UTCI'm older than most of you guys (been reading Willis' stuff since the Roomies days), and I've seen a few US Presidencies. While the US President scares the heck out of me, I want it to be him if I have to have a GOP person in. Because he's so sensational and doesn't say the boring things that let people ignore the fact that the party, and thus the legislation, is anti-gay, anti-muslim, anti-anyone who isn't rich or a corporation, really. They backed a frickin' pedophile, and passed a tax bill that blows a hole in our budget you could drive a semi through. And this is the purported party of fiscal conservatism and family values. So yeah, while my President scares me I'll take being scared if it also scares a lot of people who would otherwise stay quiescent.

Just look at Austria, our best equivalent of the US: conservative ÖVP + rightwing FPÖ in a coalition, and the young dynamic conservative is perhaps the more problematic among them. (At least, their Ö's are still fun…)

And though our new guy isn't perfect, the old guy (who was our prime minister) wasn't just from my home town. He was the federal representative of my district. So he was the leader of the country AND supposed to rep me and my neighbourhood in the house. Though he was an anti gay, anti muslim, religious xenophobe, he could hide behind being boring. He was just "an economic" conservative. It's both what let him and his party rule for years AND his downfall. Your guy's president? Is the opposite end of that conservative spectrum. The sensational kind. The headlines, kind. Twitter troll, etc. Yeah. I was fucking TERRIFIED when our guy was in, and I was in the closet. But, even though I am still on the other side of the border, i'm STILL scared for ME. Cause of YOUR guy's guy. Never mind how fucking anxious I am for any and all my friends in the states. As funny as Robin can be, she reminds me of that shit. And as much as taking the piss out of something can help, IDK folks it stresses me out
