Unused version for January 31, 2018
Added 2018-02-02 00:01:13 +0000 UTCUntil, like, three hours before I put up the strip for this day, this is what it looked like. I thought the strip needed a punchline/cliffhanger of some sort, because otherwise it's just another nigh-identical panel of Sal singing, and even if that's better for the story -- letting this moment land -- it just kind of *looks* lazy?
But the day before it published here, I realized....oh. If I replace the final panel with an extreme crane shot or zoom-out of some sort, that solves the problem. The moment I want lands, and it doesn't look like I copy-pasted myself through it. And Marcie gets her walk-up in the following strip, and nothing needs to be changed further. And, really, that last panel is friggin' crammed. The wide shot lets things breathe.
oh and for like six seconds this was the final panel, but it didn't last:
