This strip actually makes me think Malaya has social anxiety! This used to be me, when I was younger and my anxiety was worse. I couldn't have looked up in this situation if my life depended upon it, nor said anything even remotely polite. I wasn't aware that it was rude, as I wasn't able to think more than "goawaygoawygoawygoawyHELPHELPHELPwhyisshenotgoingawyaIhavemusicongoaway" The music would be on so that people wouldn't speak to me, so I wouldn't have to freak out, and if they did talk to me I went into full Malaya-mode without even noticing. Many people with crippling SA are often mistaken for being rude, and can be genuinely shocked when finding out how their behaviour was interpreted later in life.
