I *like* the strip, but decided not to use it for two good reasons. 1) Amber, that's too much yappin' about yourself for a billion years over somebody else's dead dad!!! Save it for later.
And 2) it introduces some new interesting ideas that could fill stories of exploration, but we should be WRAPPIN' STUFF UP NOW HERE. Less branching off, more putting caps on things, please!
Anyway, I went with this one instead:
Keeps Amber's thread going while also moving other things along.

This is painful and beautiful and it hurts to read and I love it. I agree that the death scene wasn't the place for it (although I can see why it would make sense since Joyce is reacting to learning that Amber is Amazi-Girl), but I'm really grateful for this insight into how Amber's brain works. I keep asking myself how I'd respond to her if I knew her in real life.

2020-12-26 23:47:04 +0000 UTCI think you made the right call to weave these ideas into further stories instead of stopping them right here, but I do like this strip because of how it blatantly spells out Amber's cocktail of rage issues, self esteem and mental illness in a way that helps me grasp it since I've been kind of lost on Amber's deal for a while now. Also I feel validated that Amber specifically cites her inability to change as a result of her constant putting herself down pushing her into worse actions because I've been banging that drum for a long time.
