Here's a theory. Dorothy is trying to level Joyce up, so to speak, so that she can stand on more equal footing with people like Joe and Roz. Either have the potential to overwhelm Joyce with a world she isn't equipped to understand. Dorothy might be looking to ease her into it with a lighter touch (again, so to speak.)

OK, I officially am stumped. Where is this storyline going? Because unless it's leading up to some hella catharsis and personal growth, it seems mostly about making Dorothy look really, really bad. Like, relationship-destroying levels. Is that supposed to be the point? To show how great a friend Becky is, then immediately show Dorothy not respecting Joyce's wishes or privacy? To make Joe look better because the only person who - for legitimate reasons - doesn't want him and Joyce to get together is going off the deep end? I genuinely can't fathom it. And you can make all sorts of in-universe arguments about why or why not this is in-character, but I'm a Doylist. This is a story that's being told, and the characters are just representations of things. So what's the point? Yeah, "Dorothy is a mess under all her control," but we already knew that. We've seen her make mistakes before. But this is on a whole other level, to the point of sexual harassment. From someone who's always been presented as the kind of person who would know better. Dorothy is my favorite character, and it's legitimately uncomfortable to watch this slow, bizarre slide she's being written to undergo. And it's taking a long time to get there. I thought we'd get a break after Joyce flat-out said how sick she is of everyone talking about her sex life, and now we've got *another* scene about it. I really hope we're going to get to a turning point ASAP, because it's making me dread checking the update every day. (not enough to, y'know, stop reading, but...)

Baylor noted in a reply above that both Joyce and Dorothy are wearing different outfits than we've seen in the rest of the storyline. Now, this is probably just because they've changed into hanging-out-in-the-dorm casualwear for the evening, but just to float a weird speculation that's probably way off base: Dream sequence? We've had a few of those in DoA, and it's not always obvious when they begin.

Was holding off reading the comments on this out of fear and potential high annoyance, but I’m glad most of y’all are super taken aback by this, because, like dang. Honestly hoping Joyce just says “woah no, you are being weird right now” - but we shall see what we shall see.

There's a chance Willis has let his love of trolling his audience go too far.

I don't think I've seen anyone get ratio'd this hard on Patreon before! I'm on the edge of my seat to see how this pans out :)

Vivian

That would certainly be a turning of the tables from last semester, wouldn't it?

Harold

I *really* hope Joyce gives Dorothy a boundaries talk here.

I'm not sure this is something most people experience with their mothers...

Harold

Dorothy is trying to be the mom. Dorothy, please stop trying to be the mom.

Flowers and dinner first, Dorothy

Bagge

I... I don't know if this is a healthy response to your situation, Dorothy.
