see Joyce, it's not society that drives people into pre-marital hanky panky, it's terrible parents. ~<3

Or, less extravagant: offer to help carry some of this stuff or store some of it in your room.

It would be kinda interesting to track Carol's right-wing indoctrination. Like "yes, I agree that my daughter is evil, my love for her dictates this awful thing." Actually you know what? I'm good, we can skip that.

What a terrible person. But hey... On the plus side, when the weather's better, blanket sale!

But that would require NOT emotionally abusing her child, which Carol is incapable of.

Joe, here is your first act as a Good Boyfriend: Hit up *your* dad to rent a storage space. Maybe impressing upon him how serious you are about Joyce will remind him to stick with Stacey!

It's also such a plain-faced lie. Carol's not thinking *of* Joyce, but rather *about* the antagonist of her own story, who also happens to be named Joyce, but bears superficial resemblance to the actual character we've followed on these strips. Carol does not know Joyce at all to think of her, and that's Carol's choice more than anyone else's.

I'd say there's definitely a chance that could happen. And holy fucking fuck I would pay serious money to see that.

That brittle, passive aggressive 'I'm thinking of you' just hurts

Carol, you could have LED with the house being sold.

Hank and Carol are divorced. I can't find the strip where this was first confirmed, but Joyce's parents are definitely not together anymore.

What really worries me is that she hasn't even mentioned Hank. I hope he is all right. Maybe he just up and left her. I would not blame him.
Or she is just doing this behind his back, which I would not put past her.

It wouldn’t have occurred to me as a freshman either, but colleges tend to be lousy with unused/forgotten store rooms, basements, crawl spaces and more. I worked a summer job at my college’s IT department and a side task was checking the network cables. The dorms had a web of tunnels linking everything together! Some dorms had almost empty basements the size of basketball courts where no one would think twice about or even notice four little crates. The library had one the size of football field!
The trick would be to have an extended network of friends and fixers who can use these things and either officially get permission (nah) or just turn a blind eye or “accidentally” leave a key lying around. Ask Ruth! The dorm probably has a few storage closets that could hold whatever Carol can cram into one car. Ruth (and maybe even the college) could be sympathetic to rude parent figures creating emergency, zero notice emergency small storage situations.

What are the odds here that Carol's going to encounter Becky and (a slightly hung-over) Dorothy, and unload on them for ruining her perfect daughter? (That would likely be sufficient for Joyce to finally unleash that long-awaited F-bomb.)
