We know he's capable of standing up for himself. It's just that the last time he did so (as far as I remember; I don't think there's been any times since), it was at the worst possible moment and when called out on that, he doubled down. So yeah, hopefully he actually does, but I'm also worried that he won't.

Do you really not see it? There's benefit of the doubt, and then there's willfully ignoring evidence.

2023-07-07 06:03:37 +0000 UTCWell, I'm glad at least their _stated_ goal is to do right, whether or not they actually managed to achieve that. If they're trying to assuage their guilt, that implies they at least _have_ guilt. It seems like Linda has some kind of prejudice against Sal, and maybe girls in general?, and Charles somehow feeds it as an enabler/people pleaser. A lifetime of favoring David over Sal definitely harmed Sal and was totally unfair to her. I don't know how they atone or fix that part of it. Starting by admitting they happened, that it hurt and was unfair I guess. Maybe they can't handle admitting just how bad things were and are in denial. That's not particularly brave. I'd drop the hammer on them but that would be pretty hypocritical- tons of humans use denial to shield themselves from their hurtful actions.
