"Show, don't tell" isn't an ironclad maxim, but I think it applied here. Dorothy's just bloviating all her feelings where we can see them! That's not fun or interesting at all. And I can better use that Halloween callback to "don't make crucial decisions when you're too high or too low" later in conversation with Ruth.
