Maybe. I think what Sal is realising is that those gains are fragile because they can be snatched away at any moment. what Sal really wants deep down are gains with her parents that are *unconditional*

At least they made small inroads about actually listening to Sal and wanting to see them more. Tiny gains are still gains.
