We still don't know how or why they even got married to begin with, at least as far as I know. And that kind of makes me wonder because Charles must somehow have functioned as white-passing for that to work. Also he must have a crapton of internalized racism, which makes me sad.

2023-09-24 05:34:57 +0000 UTCCharles is trying to express concern in the last panel, and Linda just shuts him down and misinterprets him. My guess is he'll back down like he always does. Maybe he'll surprise me, but I'm not holding my breath. I've been in the position of trying to raise a concern and having someone push back so aggressively that I forget what I even wanted to say, and I'm seeing that dynamic here. I feel bad for him. I agree with the folks who say he's complicit in Linda's abuse of Sal; it's not ok that he's letting his shitty marriage impact his children. But I guess I see him as like a doormat who's getting walked all over, and the problem is that she walks over him and then proceeds right on down to step on Sal. (We've also only gotten small little glimpses of him, so I may have him wrong.)
