2024-04-05 11:16:52 +0000 UTCWhy antagonize the bouncers after the first time? Get to know them and visit the place again in the future! This reminds me a bit of my youth. Different place, different times. Alcohol age limit was 18 as was the entrance requirement for many bars. Some had higher limits. So, after a year or so occasionally going to this nice heavy metal bar in the city, I finally turned 18. A month or so later I was going to this bar to have a beer or two, now with less anxiety as I was the proper age and had the papers to prove it. The bouncer stops me, look at my papers and says ”you have to be twenty to get in.” I ask why, and he say it’s because there have been too many underaged people there lately. Uncharacteristically smartly I did not say that doesn’t he know my face, I’ve been coming to this bar for over a year, but just turned away and had my beer in some other place. Also this drinking age of 21 feels very strange to me, as old and European, but it might be more healthy than what I did.

Joyce may be deferring to Carla's asserted knowledge of how not to get carded, but IMHO Joyce does better when being herself., and Joyce isn't about deception. Aaaaand this was all supposed to be about helping Dorothy, but Joyce and now Carla are focusing on Joyce.
