2024-05-27 07:52:14 +0000 UTCAs a lefty (like Sal) who plays string instruments right-handed, my 2 cents is this: 1) righty would absolutely be more comfortable for her based on the injuries she has. 2) its surprisingly difficult to reverse handedness. I met a guy who learned it both ways on purpose and it took him several months. IMHO the handedness of an instrument is totally arbitrary at the start but it’s hard to switch. 2b) but learning right handed opens up more options (in terms of gear, anyway) (if it were violin, it’s hard to play lefty in an orchestra due to space) 3) I think there’s some symbolism here on nonconformity and conformity, since that’s a theme of Sal lately.

So... I'm confused.

2024-05-27 04:20:46 +0000 UTCI wonder what sort of physical therapy Sal got after the injury. Given the speed her parents shipped her off to boarding school, I'm guessing it wasn't adequate. I wonder how much better her hand would function if she'd gotten real support (a lot fuckin better cuz she wouldn't have robbed the store if she wasn't trying to fund her disabled friend's surgery)
