My wedding reception had board games and alcohol, and it was great. Though we definitely focused on the lighter, more social board games that were either easy to learn or already known to most of our guests: think more "Codenames" than "Catan"

2024-07-05 11:31:44 +0000 UTCTicket to Ride is based on strategy and planning. Monopoly is based on luck, and what strategic decisions there are to make, are usually obvious. Ticket to Ride lets everybody partake until the end. Monopoly makes people drop out one by one, forcing them to find other things to do. Ticket to Ride gives you a decent chance of at least not coming last, all the way to the end. Monopoly makes it clear you're losing far before you've completely lost all your money, and for the final while you're just going through the boring motions.
