The only song I can hear in my head, despite the lyrics on the strip, is "Wake me up before you go go..."

I don't think she's a jerk - has she ever actually hurt anyone? She's just annoyingly confident and un-ignorable. But I feel like she's more emotionally intelligent and has a healthier relationship with herself than most of the other characters. Also I have a couple of friends like her, who genuinely are so happy to be themselves, and are also really caring people and great friends. I would 1000% want to be friends with Carla in real life - I'd be her sidekick any day!!

oh no yeah she's a jerk but yknow sometimes as a trans woman you kinda treasure the idea of taking up space even in a really rude way? idk, that's why i like her

Do people still find Carla's self-centeredness amusing or endearing? I was over it YEARS ago and can hardly believe at this point that anyone still accepts her behavior in any way. It's not funny. And if the comic was more unrealistic and 'cartoony' more of the time, I could write it off that way, but since there are so many serious, realistic storylines, I read her behavior as something that is actually affecting others in the dorm.

Would prefer less Carla Awareness, she comes off as annoying.

There aren't enough people to annoy in a condo. Also, there's *other* privileged people there, which means that someone could potentially complain and have it stick. If she Carla's *here*, she gets away with it.
While I've never known anyone as annoying as Carla in real life (though my penultimate roommate certainly seemed to try), I did know some people who lived in the dorms through their college experience for this set of reasons. I also knew a number of people who were very surprised that the people they were most hoping would move to an apartment or condo *didn't*, despite having the means to do so in spades.
It's possible that IU was easier to pay enough to put up with her. I don't really know the reasoning for it, but I do know that all of the super-annoying rich kids that went to my state school at the same time as me had other supposedly more prestigious options that they passed up to instead go to a school in one of the states whose legislature at one point in time proposed to change the value of pi to 3.

Carla is too sweet & precious for likes of these people! She needs to spread her wings and go forth and dominate the world!

I’m still going to push for at least a side comic strip for Carla. She’s both cartoonish and realish but most of all vivid enough to be a compelling character, especially if she’s given a cast of people such as Lucy, Ruth or Mary to bounce off of. She’d also be a new twist on the poor little rich girl trope, since she’s at war with society and her parents are happy to provide the heavy artillery support.
Also, why is Carla, who is second year at least, living in 3rd floor Read Hall instead of a condo? Also, why is she at IU in the first place instead of MIT Or CalTech? Is it because IU tried to keep her out?

Carla, Evanescence is a open door for the Goth. Can we handle Goth Carla?
