She knows Joe's history with sexuality and sex so him admitting he has feelings for Joyce, someone who he has not been sexualizing, must strike a major chord with her. She fully understands that she matters more to him than any tryst. Also... in the very dark recesses of her mind... "If Joe is my first, it is going to be mind-blowing"

Like Joe is free to say he’s curious what she thinks, and Joyce doesn’t feel pressured to have to answer right away and can say she’ll think about it and enjoys the moment. PS Joe already giving her moments she can enjoy is happiness coins in the relationship success bank.

"Hey Dad, the semester just started and you've probably budgeted for the classes you knew I signed up to take, but can we drop a few hundred dollars more on an extra class which may not even count any credit toward my major, plus supplies?"
