Asma has good advice and is clearly using the 'being far more reasonable than I should have to be' skills that working the front desk at a university lets her practice. JFC these two. Asma clearly means Alice but tbh if she likes girls with leather jackets and cool boots, Sal will probably work too. XD Except for the obvious problem.

Grab a random Indiana college student off the street, and the chances that person has regressive views on sexuality is at least 25%. (And it would be much higher anywhere other than a college campus.) Now imagine you *just* came out of the closet, and a stranger to whom you were attempting to apologize starts lecturing you that you should feel guilty about something else that you did with your partner in private. It shouldn't require the "most uncharitable interpretation" for your homophobia alarm bells to start going crazy. Joyce and Dorothy both have first-hand experience that this type of bigotry is still alive and well in the world, and they have no reason to think that Asma specifically is beyond reproach on the subject. I'm glad the strip didn't turn Asma into a raging homophobe. But I continue to baffled by the point she was trying to make, or why she thought that was the best way to make it.
