I think that Rumple cursed the hand to cause Hook to act out poorly so he would want it removed. If he could add a curse preventing the hand from being removed in any other way except by him, he could easily curse the hand to control Hook. I believe that what Rumple said near the end that there was nothing wrong with the hand and it was all Hook was just a way to mess with Hook's hand.

2021-10-18 11:44:50 +0000 UTCI'm honestly always impressed with this episode that they decided to bring Zoso back, considering he was a one episode character. If they wanted to cheap out, they could have easily had it been an earlier attempt by Rumple, or cast a different actor and say it was an earlier Dark One, but they were able to get a one-episode actor back 3 years later.
