The soundtrack and just everything about this anime is so good. So a little bit of Trivia. Both the town "Leiden" and the kingdom "Leidenschaftlich" are german terms. Leiden means "to suffer" while Leidenschaftlich translates to "passionate" And I think both of those terms are really fitting. Violet obviously suffered a lot, I mean she lost both of her arms (and Gilbert, though she doesn´t know that yet) but she also got that passionate, devoted relationship with Gilbert, which again leads to more suffering. So to clarify the last scene. Violet clearly remembers that. Since she mentioned herself that the major told her "I love you" so she knows his condition in the end. I assume she is just naive or optimistic and believes that he survived this, just like she survived losing her arms. Or possibly she just can´t take the possibility of him being gone, so she isn´t even considering it. I´m glad you enjoyed it!
