Maddie is a cheater and so is Cassie. Do you have absolutely no sympathy for neither of those characters too? Rue also physically assaulted her family and loved ones, and stole from people. The whole show is about having empathy, not agreeing with everything they do, but still trying to understand them and hope from them to do better.

Since the age of 7 she has suffered from depression and trust issues in regards to addicts stemming from the situation with her mother. So while it was really messed up that she made out with Elliot, that doesn’t mean that she wants to see Rue die. I believe she really wants to help her and everything Rue said just triggered her past memories of her mom, who ultimately died of an overdose. I don’t excuse her behavior, but it still makes me sad to see her in pain.
