That makes a lot more sense! Something to truly live for, happiness through pure love and acceptance. I need to rewatch all of them before the second season, which I’m not sure has been confirmed yet? But it better have one because I need to know what happens! Kuina was a wonderful character, I loved how much depth they showed in just one episode to make you fall in love with her. I also think they’d make a great duo!!

I know this was a while ago but if you rewatch it then they showed the Kuina flashback right after tattoed dude asked her about her past. Thats why the closeup is on her after the flashback ends. The reason the mom reacted the way she did was because she hadn't seen Kuina since she transitioned. Thats also why Kuina wants to keep living so bad. Her mom reacting positively (as opposed to her father) gave her the will to keep going. So she could one day go back to her. Honestly Kuina is by far my favorite character so far. I hope she gets more screentime in season 2! Also maybe its just bc im gay but I need her and Ann to kick ass together
