THATS for sure!!

Jon that is really a pity! Thank goodness we have your episode on the recipe for it!

One thing I noted about Cresswell's journal as I read through some...he gets very sick. A lot. Like feeling near death sick. I wonder how often this happened generally - foodborne illness and flu/cold without meds must have made life quite miserable.

Mike Kruk

Wow this is great - I've always wanted to more deeply dive into Nicholas Cresswell's journal! One of my favorite moments is really a non-moment - April 19th, 1775. The day Lexington and Concord happened, the Revolutionary War rather officially starts. But he's off adventuring and wandering through territories, and doesn't find out any of that is going on for a long time. Our modern day is so instant with news, but this guy goes for several weeks unknowing the land he is now in is as war with his homeland. Has no idea one of the most consequential events of his lifetime is unfolding. Being a loyalist, he's pretty much now in enemy territory (but learns early on to keep his loyalist tendencies rather quiet).

I haven't done it myself Mike but I need to give it a go! I'll go out to Amazon for the "emergency condition" Ha! THANKS!

Cindy Klenk (Highlands Recording Arts LLC)

Amazon has 2 and 4 packs for sale, if you want that Geo Watkins flavor. But making your own is the best way to go :)

Mike Kruk

Oh no! That is terrible news! I'll try to make my own!

Cindy Klenk (Highlands Recording Arts LLC)

It's one of those things that seem like a grind, but might be so very helpful in the future, especially for future generations. I don't think I could do it. Maybe as a video series;)

Jon Townsend

You are very fortunate!

Jon Townsend

That's kind of what this turns into.

Jon Townsend

Your very welcome.

Jon Townsend

You might have to make your own, we can no longer get it from the UK.

Jon Townsend

I love it Jon! timely too, I have been thinking about starting a journal myself! 🤔

Lane Andress

Thankyou for the encouragement Cindy!

Linda, before she passed my mom wrote a book about growing up during the depression - called "Dancing Between the Raindrops" She wanted to leave a history before she passed on. Mom wrote it using her old journals (her diaries) - Its invaluable and a wonderful keep sake. Mom is still alive and 12-16 years old on those pages. Mom never got down and never considered themselves poor - it was the same for all of her girl friends. They all danced between the raindrops.... We owe so much to the 18th century journal writers too like Mr. Cresswell. God Bless and have a wonderful evening. ---Jon is just the best.

I love this idea... I haven't thought about it much but I wish now I had a journal from my grand parents and great grand parents - thank you.

Jody Fleming

Fantastic! I love the journaling. Going through each section opens up a ton different things to research and get more information on. Can't wait for more

Duston Williams

Excellent topic, a great idea to journal life experiences to pass forward to future generations..being a great grand mother really impacts ones' perspective. Remembering my Mothers' stories, Grandmothers' recipies and yes my Great Grandmothers' life stories...thankyou Jon! I will check out Criswells journal.

Linda Hipple

Hmmm, Thought: Journal book club?

Samuel Cobb
