And … Director Denis Villeneuve [pronounced ‘vill’neuv’] had been planning to adapt Dune to film since he first read it at 13 years old.* (*Same with the film’s composer Hans Zimmer. A passion project for each). There are other excellent Villeneuve movies worth considering (Sicario and Arrival you’ve seen).

2025-03-16 17:53:48 +0000 UTCI voted “Dune Part One (2021)” not only because of the serendipity of this showing up on a poll MINUTES before I am about to hit play on a rewatch, but also because I adore this film (and its companion “Dune Part Two”) I fell in love with the world of Dune after reading Frank Herbert’s original Dune novel (pub. 1965), and when I saw Dune Part One in the cinema in October 2021, it felt the same seeing it as it felt in my mind reading it first the first time! My fingers are so tightly crossed 🤞 for this to win, I might injure them. (Worth it! Sacrifice for the Greater Good 😊)
