Hungry Critters Patron Update 1.1.6.0

Play as Geier

Geier is now 100% controllable. I've created a unified control system for characters that is contextual with on-screen instructions: WASD for movement and E, R, F, Shift, and Space for various actions which change with the character's state. I also finally did some good work on unspaghettiing the code and better organizing it into classes to prepare for future content.

Some eye weirdness was also fixed in Geier's grab attack.

Saving Settings

Your settings are now remembered by your browser when you change them in the menu. Content settings are not saved yet because they are dictated by the characters, which will soon undergo large changes in the way they work and the effort would be wasted.

Comments

Ah okay, hardware acceleration is going to be pretty important for a game like this. I'm glad the problem was figured out. I'll make a mental note of this and it may be worthwhile to do some experiments with trying to run the game without it in the future.

LongLevy

So I fixed the issue, and this might be something that happens with other browsers. but basically I had totally forgotten that hardware acceleration wasn't turned on. So as a result my browser was super limited to what it could use to run the game. Which sorta explains why the heck it wasn't working lol.

Since there's a whole slew of settings you can change on GX. I'll investigate and let you know if I manage to salvage the issue on my end.

zwadstheiguana

That's fair. Maybe I have some limiters or something on that the game isn't liking

zwadstheiguana

That's odd, because I use Windows 10 too and I downloaded Opera GX to see for myself, and it seems fine in that for me. I'm afraid there's not much I can do to fix the problem if I can't reproduce it myself.

LongLevy

The snapping issue doesn't even happen on edge explorer either which makes me think there's something about opera gx that the game just doesn't like lol

zwadstheiguana

I use windows 10 Though after some poking around it seems the comment above by Edu was correct and edge explorer works almost flawlessly

zwadstheiguana

I'd suggest trying different browsers to see if you still have the same problem. What operating system do you use?

LongLevy

Well the wolf isn't just normally turning left and right. he's kind of snapping to different directions sorta rapidly. It's like he's set to look at things at random and ignore any time it would take to turn and look at those things.

zwadstheiguana

for me it was running awfully on chrome but i move it to Edge explorer and it runs perfectly!

Edu

Oh, what you're describing sounds worse than the turning bug I'm aware of. Can you describe it in more detail? I think the game runs best in Chrome.

LongLevy

gotcha, is there also a recommended browser to run this in? I'm in operaGX so i don't know if that would affect the way the game runs or not. Thank thank ya for looking into that bug cause man it's impossible to control the wolf when he seems to want to look at anything but the rabbit XD

zwadstheiguana

I'd suggest turning down the shadow quality and/or FPS in the settings if you want it to run better. I'm aware of some hitching when objects first become visible as it tries to compile its shaders on the spot, which I've been looking into fixing. I'm also looking into fixing the character turning bug.

LongLevy

I normally hate to complain, but is there someway to fix the framerate and the fact that the characters seems to shift in random directions all that time?
