New Series Ideas
Added 2017-07-27 12:58:19 +0000 UTCSo I mentioned in a post a week back or so that I was thinking about creating new content outside of Myths. I love the Myth series, I'm proud of the quality of it but I think there's plenty more areas in games DTH can cover that would work with our style and still entertain and inform people.
I think Myths can be summarized down to 'Interactions in this game you might not know about'. Seeing how different systems in a game interact is fascinating, it's constantly surprising and sometimes you find things no one knew was possible, even the developers. I think Myths will always be our king series (especially as games get more complex) but there's always things people want tested outside of just game interactions and a lot of the information we provide in Myths doesn't help people improve at their favorite video games.
Also, when DTH is in a time like this where all our current Myth series are running low (BF1, Titanfall 2, Overwatch and PUBG Myths are all starting to run out of ideas), we need different series that can fill in the gaps while we are waiting for new potential games to come out.
So I've been brainstorming a lot recently. I have 2 current ideas that I think would slot comfortably into the DTH lineup and could follow the same editing style and quality.
1. 'The Small Things'. This series would be focused around the small details that developers put in that most people might miss, it might be hidden animations, reflections and interactions people wont notice when in the heat of a game. For instance in BF1 the scope of weapons has accurate reflections, you can see a Zeppelin in the sky from the scope of your sniper when not aiming down it, also a flag will be chucked back by the force of a tank cannon blast, cool details. This series would showcase of those. This could work for any game too, stuff like Uncharted 4 and MGSV would have been great, could really help fill in the gaps when Myth videos aren't viable in the current game lineup.
2. 'Damage Defined'. This series is based around showing exact and specific damage values/data/facts from interactions that don't happen too often. Lots of channels and videos can tell you how much damage every weapon does in the game but I doubt anywhere tells you how much damage a Molotov does in PUBG per second or how much damage a tank explosion does to another nearby tank in BF1, maybe those are boring/bad examples but I bet there's lots of encounters and attacks in games like Overwatch where people dont know how much damage it inflicts. It's not the most exciting show idea but I think some real hardcore players and data nerds would be into it.
These ideas cover new aspects of video games that Myths currently doesn't, if I went through with these ideas, the stuff DTH covers would look like.
Myths: In-game interactions.
The Small Things: Attention to detail.
Damage Defined: Multiplayer data.
I also really want to bring Bot Battle back whenever I have the chance, it's rare a game has both a free camera system and also an AI versus system but whenever it happens, I want to make a Bot Battle in the game.
I think these series could really broaden the amount of information our subscribers get from our channel and DTH could become a solid source for fans of a game to learn more about it.
But, DTH isn't always about information, it's about entertainment and fun too. I often try to make the Myth videos funny and include clips only because I think they look cool, I think that's a part of DTH and I don't want to channel to lean too heavily on information, I still want entertainment to come first.
So, I'm actually working on some ideas in an area DTH doesn't usually tackle and that's comedy. I don't feel like I am ready to go into the ideas I have yet until I have tested them out but I do have one specific 'skit' idea based around PUBG. No idea if the DTH audience will like it but as I mentioned a while back, I want to be braver with creating different content on DTH.
Please leave any feedback or ideas you have down below, also let me know if there's any specific areas of information you would like to be covered on your favorite games. Maybe the best sniping spots? Maybe.. something else, I'm all out of ideas, hence why it would be helpful if you guys had any.
None of this is set in stone, I have no idea which of these ideas will come to life but I know for certain that this is the direction I think DTH needs to go in and some of these will happen.

Glad you like it! I think it should act as a nice contrast from Myths which is large in scale. GTA V and MGSV would have been perfect, shame I didn't think about it sooner :P
