The near future.
Added 2017-08-24 18:53:58 +0000 UTCI just wanted to stop by and write a bit about my current thought process involving Defend The House.
I'm in a spot which I thought might eventually come where the games in the Myth video rotations are starting to get limited. Overwatch and Titanfall 2 have a small audience (on DTH) and PUBG and Battlefield 1 feel like they might run out of content soon. We have Destiny 2, COD WW2 and Battlefront 2 on the way but I don't think any of these games are obvious 'gold mines' when it comes to the Myth series. I doubt COD will supply any fun experimentation but I'm hoping Destiny 2 and Battlefront 2 will at least allow for a couple of videos. The problem is I have no idea how far these series will go. It might be 10 episodes, it might be 2. I'm starting to prepare for the scenario in which none of these games turn into long series and DTH is in an awkward space of having no Myths to bust.
DTH's reliance on the Myth series is its current weakness I think. Relying solely on specific video games to come out and be successful is not a great way to make a consistent Youtube channel. So it's time for me to start trying some new series ideas.
I mentioned 2 ideas previously, 1 based around specific damage values and 1 based off small details in video games. I've backed off the damage value idea, it's heavily covered by other channels and just isn't that entertaining. I will be pursuing the small details idea, starting with Battlefield 1. Using reddit search today, I managed to gather a pretty decent list of fun details hidden within BF1 that I don't think a lot of people would have noticed. I haven't started filming or figuring out how I will format/edit it but expect to see that series appear sometime in the future, I will keep you guys updated on how its coming together.
Before that though, we have been working on a brand new idea, something I very vaguely mentioned in a previous post, something comedy based which I'll explain now.
We've filmed a bunch and I'm going to start editing it tonight, the video is currently titled '18 Different PUBG Players' and will be a rapid fire comedy sketch focused on different play-styles people use within PUBG. It's not the most original idea, I think it's been done before but I've never seen someone do it in the style I have planned out. Each sketch will be about 5-10 seconds long, probably as quick as the sketch's in the ASDF movies. There will be dialogue but only small bits, with the focus being on the video footage. It's hard to explain how I want it to turn out so I'll try and get a test edit together soon for you guys. This is something very unusual for DTH but I honestly think I can do a job of it and bring some flexibility and diversity to the DTH lineup. I'll be looking for feedback from you guys before I decide to make it live. I'm nervous about making something so unusual for DTH but hopefully people will like it and we can start bringing the idea in different games in the future.
That's all for now, 2 brand new series ideas on the way. I will also be bringing that monthly vlog show to life and of course, more Myths soon. We'll be doing Battlefield recording this weekend so if everything goes well, new Vol next week. Also a new review from me and Jamison too focused on Prey, Hellblade and Uncharted: Lost Legacy.
