MM - Chapter 251.1 - AN INFINITE FRACTAL

Every value that could ever exist found a home within the infinite potential of Pi. Every birthdate, every star's lifespan, every instance of death down to the microsecond—the complete code of the universe, distilled into numerical form, rested within that endless, never-repeating sequence.

As Raine’s bloodlust broke free from its confines, tore through his skin, and swirled around his fist, that same infinite potential was given new form, new purpose. Currents of internal force flowed into a construct encompassing the end of all things, and his knuckles would herald that finality.

A spiraling fractal in the shape of an armored glove took shape. It did not shine or glow, but drank the light around it, a creation of pure darkness that expanded with impossible speed until it extended halfway up his forearm. It was a pattern of angular spirals, sharp protrusions, and jagged notches, like a dragon's spiked tail. And each of its thousand writhing scales took the shape of another fully formed tail, all with their own, even smaller scales. On and on the pattern went; each and every interlocking tail was a part of a greater whole, even as they collapsed into the next layer, compounding the very concept of its own existence inward to microscopic proportions and beyond, all to reinforce itself endlessly until the dark scales radiated a gravity all their own.

With the monstrosity coiled tightly around his arm, there could be no retreat, no evasion. In his moment of epiphany, barely conscious of what he was doing, Raine charged at the descending madness that Nero’s blade represented. A roar escaped their lips as what should have been a demonstration turned into a battle for survival that could kill either. They leaped, and a masterpiece of martial prowess collided with a nascent, pulsing vortex of death.

The universe screamed as their creations clashed.

For a single, bloated moment, the two impossibilities warred. The sword’s hundreds of interlocking energy cycles, each a razor of refined will, attempted to slice through Raine's reality-defying fractal. The ever-collapsing tails consumed the spirals, erasing the intricate patterns as if they had never been. Then, reality reasserted itself with cataclysmic violence.

A wave of pressure, sound, and force detonated outward. Grandmaster Malakar’s finger extended, a casual gesture that erected an invisible barrier between the spectators and the unleashed mayhem. The forces split around the old man, crashing against the steelphene shutters behind and blowing the stacked furniture to bits.

Raine and Nero were thrown in opposite directions like discarded dolls. The peak master twisted in the air, landing on his feet and sliding a full ten meters, carving furrows into the floor with his heels. The magnificent sword of intent in his hands flickered violently but was rewoven before he came to a stop. He stared across the room, face a mask of utter disbelief, mind reeling from the backlash of their techniques clashing with nigh-equal force.

Raine was not so fortunate. His body tumbled and flipped through the air like a broken doll before crashing into a destroyed pile of furniture. He didn’t come to a stop until splashing up against the far wall with a wet crunch. He slid to the floor, leaving a crimson smear in his wake. Yet, he was not done. Using the meager momentum of his fall, he pushed against the wall, leaning forward to land on his feet. His entire body screamed in protest.

He managed one step before stumbling to a knee, shattered left arm hanging uselessly. His right arm, the one that had delivered the blow, was a mangled ruin. The sleeve was gone, and the revealed skin was a shredded tapestry of deep cuts and exposed muscle, blood pouring freely to pool on the floor.

Despite the agony, his eyes burned with a defiant, untamed fire as they locked onto Nero’s. A feral grin stretched his lips, a silent challenge that promised their next round would be even more exciting. The intensity held for a heartbeat, right until his eyes rolled back into his head. Raine collapsed forward, the thud of his body hitting the floor echoing in the sudden, profound silence.

The quiet stretched, thick and heavy. Orenna’s hand was clamped over her mouth, her eyes just as wide as the others. Pryce shook his head, the composure of a peak master nowhere to be found. Even Malakar’s nonchalant facade had cracked; the ancient grandmaster’s gaze was fixed on Raine’s unconscious form, a gleam of predatory, avaricious hunger shining from within.

Pryce let out a shaky breath, delicately shattering the stillness as he voiced the thought consuming them all. “What the fuck is he?”

“Silence!” Malakar’s voice cracked like a whip, and the peak masters stiffened. Seconds ticked by before their elder spoke again. He didn’t bother placing a finger against his temple, it was obvious his words weren’t for them. “I hear you’ve been bullying one of my disciples. Who? Who else! Raine KongRu. Why would I lie to you Tannis? Of course the child is one of mine! Oh really. So that’s how it's going to be? Are you sure, because I caught wind that your little Phoenix Clan hatched a fresh baby grandmaster. It would be a shame if I had to come out of retirement just to clip her wings. Good. Good. I’m glad we understand each other. Why would I stop you from doing that? Send as many experts to face him as you want, I will enjoy watching their blood flow.”
