I've forgotten a lot of the first season (bc I originally binged 2/3 of it to catch up to the air dates) and I love revisiting it at this pace. I totally forgot about dude getting impaled and surviving. This is the point when the show hooked me. I thought I was getting space opera, but it's leaning into noir and spot-on geopolitics that all fits nicely together. It's wild how many things are at play yet it all feels intriguing rather than overwhelming and they're unfolding the backstories and crumbs of lore at a good pace. But the scene where they name the Rocinante made me smile so much. Now I'm thinking this is a good excuse to read/re-read the books along with the watch...

Again, I could be definitely wrong. But that’s what that scene conveyed to me.

This movie is going in very quickly because I’ve seen it before in our own geopolitical stances not just from the US but from the UN since the mid 60s when information was hard to receive with only three television channels, and of course newspapers that ran the narratives of the first and second world war. It’s a massive pattern. I’m keeping my eye on all the technology and uses a spy craft and nation alliances as reference map for space. Taking note that this series was put out in 2015 meaning it was created during 2014 and that timeline is very significant on a world scale. I will leave you all of this thought that has stood the test of time. “ Those who control the narrative control the world.” Now apply it to your current timeline and nation you may be viewing this show from. Enjoy the show as I know I will.

2025-11-08 11:18:42 +0000 UTCI have seen a LOT of reactions to this show and i know not to spoil anything. Here are a few observations. Naomi is a belter. She has been accused of being OPA and that movement is pretty much limited to belters. That makes our little group a microcosm of the solar system:Earthers (Holden and Amos), Mars (Alex) and Naomi (belt). Another is battle lighting on the ships. Mars ships travel in red light normally and blue for battle. Earth is the opposite. And lastly: you were just introduced to the Rocinante. (aka the Tachi). The names being tossed out by Alex were meant to be funny. When the fans banded together to save the show, we took on the name Screaming Firehawks after this episode! More to come on that if you are interested. And thank you for 3 at once!! Such a nice gift.

Pretty sure you could get it in the belt, too, but at a price most people can't afford. Also you might have missed that the massacre of Anderson Station happened 11 years ago.

Shed's DnD creator had to quit the game so they wrote it into the novels. Many know Shed's actor as a lead in the show Royal Pains. Please tell me if my meta comments are spoilers and i will stop.
