What I've been working on.
Added 2021-04-06 21:42:11 +0000 UTCYo, If you haven't noticed, It's been a while since I've last posted here, So I thought I'd give a little update of things that are in the works. March was a bit of a weak month, in terms of my upload schedule, but now that I'm back in the swing of things, and that I've made a decent amount of progress in my work, I think it's time to share what I've been working on.
1. Half-Life Alyx Pack
Recently, I bought an Oculus quest 2, along with Half-Life Alyx. I loved the game, but I also thought it could be a great opportunity to test my skills adapting textures for Minecraft. So I made the Half Life Alyx pack (the name will probably change, I don't know); this pack converts the gorgeous textures of the game into a format compatible with Minecraft.

Not only that, but I’ve been trying out converting models from the game into items, and by using PBR materials, I think it gives a pretty Nice effect.

This pack will also heavily use CTM; Alyx’s textures are very large, and wouldn’t fit inside 1 block, so I used CTM to set the scale right; and to add some much-needed variation.

The first release of this pack is nearing completion, so stay tuned for the release!
2. Hand-painted pack
One of my other projects is the hand-painted pack, which, as you can guess, features hand painted textures. The pack features normal and specular mapping, (AO and a height-map might come eventually, as it is more difficult to make) both of which are hand-painted. Hopefully, the custom-made textures will achieve a nice, almost fine-art aesthetic.

Because this pack relies so much on hand drawn textures, the quality of the pack relies on my skill at drawing; and funnily enough, I’m not that good at drawing. However, as I continue to work on this pack, my skills will hopefully increase and the back should improve way more as I add to it. But most importantly, because I currently have to make hand-paint each texture (an albedo, normal and specular texture per block), this pack takes ages to make. Most likely, a large release of the pack won’t be any time soon, but if that situation changes I’ll keep y’all posted.
3. Faithful PBR
It’s been over a year since I first released faithful PBR, and I think it’s time to put it on hold until further notice. As unfortunate as it is, it just isn’t fun for me to make it anymore, and is a dated demonstration of my skills. However, I will still be backporting my downscaled and RTX versions to the latest released version (0.14), so we’ve still got a while before I stop production. But on the plus side, the downscaled versions have gotten a little revamp on the latest versions. By using Pixelgraph, I can downscale the PBR texture quite a bit better, meaning that the lower resolution versions will have softer normals, and will have that faithful look and feel.

These revamps will be on the next updates for faithful PBR across the board.
4. Youtube Videos
Oh yeah, I’ve got some non-Minecraft related videos in the works too, but they’re still in the works. So uh, I guess I’ll update y’all when I make some significant progress on them.
Thanks for the continued support yo, It really means a lot to me.
