Dev update #90

Very quick update!
Still alive and still working on the game. Still having fun despite spending all my vacation time in front of the PC. Or maybe I'm happy because I'm spending every minute in front of the PC? And not at my day job? Anyway, I'm progressing quite quickly with the update - things are going much better than I feared and expected, so good news.
Unfortunately, I'm not as efficient as in Deliverance due to the major workflow changes. But don't worry, I'll improve the efficiency in time. Give me a few months or a few updates and I'll be working without any major setbacks. Just like I used to while working on Deliverance. Or even better - I no longer have any issues with scene setups and GPU's VRAM restrictions, which was one of the worst pains I faced as a dev.
Three characters in a fairly complicated environment? No problem. 5? Still no issues. I could push it even further and I will when a scene demands that. A Night Beats scene (the club) will require me to push the 3090s to the limit! Can't wait!
I'm currently working on THE MOST complicated scene I've ever worked on with 5-7 characters in and 11-20M polygons depending on how many characters are on screen. No issues at all. Not a single crash! I think I found my new love: RTX 3090! Speaking of, I'm glad I didn't buy the RTX A6000 with 48 GB - that would've been such an overkill and simply a waste of money (for my current needs).
Given that I finished more than a couple of renders I think it's time for the rough estimation of Episode 1's length. I'm assuming (and I'll 100% be wrong due to the workflow change) Ep.1 to have 1200-1500 renders. Possibly slightly more. I still stand by what I said that the update will come out this year. November? Early December? I don't want to make empty promises. All I'm doing is just guessing at this point.
As always, I'll keep you updated on any changes! What's important for me is that seeing all the results - dialogues, renders, coding, and all the plans for characters coming together, I can't help myself but smile and be proud of how far I've come.
None of that would've been possible without you! So thank you again for sticking with me long after the end of Deliverance! It means a lot!
