Dev update #100
Added 2023-01-10 12:08:04 +0000 UTCHi!
Christmas went by too quickly, and so did the New Year's Eve. I hope you all are doing great in 2023 and continue to do so throughout the entire year.
When it comes to development, I hit a pretty big stop recently. I figured my writing wasn't going as smoothly as I'd like, so I switched to rendering. As it turns out, I couldn't render anything! Crashes left, right, and center. Everytime I paused a render to adjust the lighting or expression or a pose, the software crashed on me. Which was completely new to me, because I haven't experienced any crashes while working on Episode 1. So I did a little bit of investigating. What's changed since the last rendering cycle? Well, I replaced my CPU cooling, and... updated the rendering software to the newest (apparently) stable version. So I reverted back to the older version- the one I was using the whole time, and no more crashes. At least so far. I'll start rendering images tomorrow and will continue to do so for quite a while.
Still, my attention was solely focused on writing. I wanted to add as many details as possible to the story, build the foundation of the sim world, expand characters' storylines, build on everything I introduced in Ep.1. Lots of new, hopefully interesting developments are coming for our characters. Finally, you'll understand how the sim world works. Which basically turns into a real world for our characters. However, it is NOT necessary to posess that knowledge. Just something extra. If you're not interested in that, it is completely fine - you'll still understand everything that's happening in the game without any issues.
I've already made a couple of changes to the original draft! Probably more changes will come. This time it concerned Natalie, Kendra's uni friend. Much more of her in the upcoming episode.
However, she will not be a star of Episode 2. That title belongs to somebody else. :)
I'll do a character render poll soon, so stay tuned!
Take care!
